Visit to Billericay 2004

From Friday 23rd April 2004 to Monday 26th April 2004, a delegation of 19 residents from the town of Chauvigny visited Billericay.  The main reason was to sign the formal twinning charter between Billericay and Chauvigny at a ceremony held at the St Mary Magdalene Church, Great Burstead.  The event was open to all interested persons and invitations were issued to many clubs and organisations.

An itinerary of events was defined for the week-end.

Friday

3.30pm

Meet visitors at Stanstead airport and leave with hosts for evening

Saturday

12 noon     

Morris Dancers outside Somerfields, High Street

  12.30pm Presentation of book on Billericay by the author Sylvia Kent to Mayor of Chauvigny

 

12.30pm - 2.30pm     

Buffet at the Red Lion Public House,  High Street

 

3.30pm - 4.30pm      

Official signing of Charters at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Great Burstead

 

4.30pm-5.30pm              

Teas and snacks at Gt Burstead Church hall

 

7.30pm - 11.30pm        

Dinner at the White Hart, Ramsden Heath and formal Exchange of Charters

Sunday

8.30am Optional 4 mile fun run with Billericay Striders starting in Lake meadows
 

11.0am      

Norsey Wood guided walk

 

12.30pm-2.0pm       

Buffet lunch at Eddies Club, Radford Way

 

2.30pm-4.30pm   

Guided walk of the High Street Town Trail

 

Evening        

Hosts to provide Dinner

Monday      

8.30am     

Visitors leave by coach from railway station.

In preparation of this visit an exhibition relating to Chauvigny was held at the Library, Billericay High Street, on Friday 26th March and Saturday 27th March 2004 during normal opening hours.
